Singapore Airlines London Gatwick doubles March 2026 — starting today. Flight SQ313 operates for the first time this afternoon, adding a third weekly Gatwick departure to the existing daily service. From today through July 2, Gatwick runs 10 flights per week. From July 3 to August 29, it goes double-daily — the peak UK school holiday window, consistently 90% full on every previous year’s data. Singapore Airlines General Manager for UK and Ireland Mohamed Rafi Mar confirmed: “Our London Gatwick service continues to prove popular, and we are pleased to add even more flights in the coming months.” For the first time in the route’s history — launched only in June 2024 — UK passengers have more than one daily option to fly direct to Singapore from London’s southern gateway. And through Singapore Changi, that means seamless connections to Bali, Thailand, and seven Australian gateways, all on the world’s most awarded long-haul carrier.

This expansion did not emerge in isolation. Singapore Airlines has been tracking a specific and significant demand shift since late February 2026: the closure of Middle East airspace has disrupted the one-stop itineraries that compete most directly with SIA’s nonstop Singapore service.
Traditionally, UK passengers travelling to Southeast Asia and Australia have had three primary routing options: nonstop via Singapore Airlines from Heathrow or Gatwick, one-stop via Gulf carriers (Emirates, Etihad, Qatar) through Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Doha, or one-stop via European carriers through Frankfurt, Amsterdam, or Paris.
When Gulf carrier operations contracted to 17% of pre-crisis capacity from late February, tens of thousands of UK passengers who would typically have connected through Dubai were forced to reroute. Many moved onto Singapore Airlines, which operates nonstop services unaffected by Middle East airspace. SIA’s Gatwick flights have been running at approximately 85% occupancy since the route launched in 2024 — and during July and August, consistently around 90% full. With Gulf carrier capacity unlikely to fully restore before April–May, the summer 2026 demand picture for Singapore Airlines on the UK market is exceptionally strong.
The Gatwick expansion — planned before the Middle East crisis, confirmed after it began — lands at exactly the right moment. UK passengers who cannot get their preferred Gulf carrier routing for summer travel are actively looking at alternatives right now. Singapore Airlines Gatwick, with double-daily July–August service and seamless connections through Changi, is the most complete replacement available.
From today until July 2, Singapore Airlines operates 10 weekly flights between Singapore and London Gatwick: the existing daily service (SQ312/SQ309) plus the new supplementary service (SQ314/SQ313) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
New supplementary service days (Phase 1): Tuesday | Thursday | Saturday
Departure times (supplementary SQ314 — SIN→LGW): Early morning Singapore departure — arrives London morning Departure times (supplementary SQ313 — LGW→SIN): Around midday London departure — arrives Singapore following day
Note: Timings for the additional service are slightly variable throughout the week, likely due to the last-minute nature of the slot allocation SIA managed to secure at Gatwick. Check singaporeair.com for your specific departure date’s exact times.
Starting July 3, the supplementary service increases from three times weekly to daily — raising Singapore Airlines’ total Gatwick operations to double-daily overall for the carrier. This is the UK school holiday peak window — the six-week period that has historically seen SIA’s Gatwick flights run at 90% capacity.
For passengers flying during the summer school holiday period, this is the most significant practical change: instead of competing for seats on a single daily departure, there are now two daily options from Gatwick. Passengers who previously could not get their preferred travel date or class on the single daily service now have double the seat inventory.
Double-daily window: July 3–August 29, 2026 — 14 flights per week Gatwick–Singapore
From September 1, the supplementary service scales back to three times weekly again — keeping the route at 10 weekly flights as UK school holidays end and demand moderates into the autumn shoulder season.
Full operation period: March 31–October 24, 2026
Both services — the existing daily SQ312/SQ309 and the new supplementary SQ314/SQ313 — operate on the same aircraft type: the Airbus A350-900 long-haul, configured with 253 seats across three cabins.
The aircraft features a three-class configuration with 42 Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy seats, and 187 Economy Class seats. There is no First Class or Suites cabin on this aircraft type — the Suites product remains exclusive to SIA’s A380 and certain A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) services.
Singapore Airlines Business Class on the A350 long-haul features fully flat beds in a 1-2-1 direct aisle access configuration — every seat reaches the aisle without climbing over a neighbour. Seat pitch is generous for a business-class product by European carrier standards.
✈️ Gourmet dining by Monica Galetti — exclusive collaboration with the MasterChef judge and chef-patron of Mere in London — curated menus for all UK services ✈️ Limited-edition Monica Galetti dessert — available to all cabin passengers, not Business Class only ✈️ Award-winning wine collection — curated by Singapore Airlines’ in-house team ✈️ Complimentary Wi-Fi for KrisFlyer members ✈️ Lounge access departing Gatwick: No1 Lounge, North Terminal — hot food, champagne, private meeting rooms
New Business Class coming: Singapore Airlines will introduce its long-awaited closed-door suite-style Business Class on the A350 Long Haul from Q2 2026. Additional Gatwick flights reinforce it as a possible candidate for the new seats, though Heathrow remains the prime early candidate. Watch the SIA website for deployment announcements.
Singapore Airlines Premium Economy is consistently rated among the best in class globally — wider seat, significantly more recline than economy, dedicated cabin service, and a separate premium dining menu.
✈️ 2-4-2 configuration — window seats (A/K) are the best for solo travellers ✈️ Priority boarding and dedicated baggage handling ✈️ 38″ seat pitch — 9.5 hours London to Singapore in meaningful comfort
Singapore Airlines Economy on long-haul A350 is routinely cited as the best economy product on the UK–Singapore route. The Singapore Girl service standard — even in economy — delivers a product measurably above most European competitors on the same route.
✈️ 3-3-3 configuration — window seats (A/K) for solo travellers wanting to avoid middle seats ✈️ 32″ pitch — standard but well-executed ✈️ Full entertainment library — regional content including UK-specific programming ✈️ Monica Galetti limited-edition dessert included in all cabins
Singapore Changi Airport is consistently rated the world’s best airport. Its connection times are among the shortest of any major hub — a 55-minute minimum connection is officially offered, though 90 minutes is comfortable. From Gatwick, Singapore Airlines connects through Changi to:
The expanded Gatwick service includes seamless connections to popular holiday destinations such as Bali, Thailand, and seven gateways in Australia. Bali via Singapore is Singapore Airlines’ most popular connection for UK leisure passengers. Double-daily Gatwick in July–August means twice the daily connection options onto Bali — critical during school holidays when Bali seats fill months in advance.
✈️ LGW → SIN → DPS: Total journey ~16–17 hours including connection ✈️ Singapore to Bali: 2h 20min — multiple daily services
Thailand via Singapore is the primary alternative for UK passengers who would have previously routed through Dubai. With Emirates’ Thai services reduced during the Middle East crisis, Singapore Airlines’ indirect route through Changi has absorbed significant displaced demand.
✈️ LGW → SIN → BKK: Total journey ~14–15 hours including connection ✈️ Singapore Airlines + Scoot (SIA subsidiary) both serve Thai destinations from Changi
For UK passengers heading to Australia — one of the most significant long-haul markets from Gatwick specifically — the double-daily summer service means genuinely useful flexibility. Australian destinations accessible through Changi on a single Singapore Airlines booking:
✈️ Sydney (SYD) — most popular for UK–Australia ✈️ Melbourne (MEL) — second most popular ✈️ Brisbane (BNE) — Queensland gateway ✈️ Perth (PER) — closest Australian city to Singapore, shortest connection ✈️ Adelaide (ADL) — South Australia ✈️ Darwin (DRW) — Northern Territory ✈️ Cairns (CNS) — Great Barrier Reef gateway
Singaporeair.com is the primary booking channel. The additional services are now bookable on the Singapore Airlines website. Use the multi-city search if combining London–Singapore with an onward connection to Bali, Australia, or another destination — Singapore Airlines will price the entire itinerary on a single ticket, which gives you protected connections and a single check-in.
Both services — existing daily and new supplementary — are available for KrisFlyer redemption. Standard rates apply:
✈️ Economy: From 35,000 KrisFlyer miles one-way London–Singapore (Saver award) ✈️ Premium Economy: From 50,000 KrisFlyer miles one-way (Saver award) ✈️ Business Class: From 62,500 KrisFlyer miles one-way (Saver award)
⚠️ SAF Tax Warning: Ex-Singapore redemptions made on or after April 1, 2026 for travel on or after October 1, 2026 will be hit with Singapore’s new SAF tax — S$26 in Business Class. Try to redeem future-dated flights before April 1 to avoid the surcharge. This is tomorrow’s deadline — if you are planning a Singapore Airlines redemption for October or beyond, book the return leg from Singapore today.
Singapore Airlines is a Star Alliance member — United MileagePlus, Lufthansa Miles & More, Air Canada Aeroplan, Turkish Miles & Smiles, and other Star Alliance currencies can book SIA awards. Availability on partner bookings is typically tighter than direct KrisFlyer redemptions but worth checking for premium cabin travel.
Singapore Airlines is not a oneworld member — but a reader tip from Mainly Miles notes Avios previously had transfers available to KrisFlyer via Nectar. Check your Avios balance and current transfer options at britishairways.com/en-gb/executive-club/spending-avios/convert-avios.
Business Class customers, as well as PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members departing from London Gatwick, have access to the No1 Lounge located at Gatwick North Terminal.
✈️ Freshly prepared hot food — full restaurant-style service ✈️ Champagne, premium wines, spirits — fully tended bar ✈️ Free Wi-Fi throughout ✈️ Meeting rooms — for business travellers ✈️ Wheelchair-accessible restrooms ✈️ Printing facilities
Access rules: Business Class ticket on today’s flight OR PPS Club status OR KrisFlyer Elite Gold. KrisFlyer Elite Silver does not include lounge access at Gatwick.
Singapore Airlines doubles London Gatwick from today. Flight SQ313 departs this afternoon for the first time. From today through July 2, Gatwick runs 10 weekly flights — Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays now join the daily service. From July 3 to August 29 — the entire UK school summer holiday window — it is double-daily. The most awarded long-haul airline in the world is now operating more UK–Singapore flights per week than any other carrier in history on this route.
For UK travellers heading to Singapore, Bali, Thailand, or Australia this summer — and particularly for those who would typically have routed through Dubai but cannot — this is the best news of the week. The Middle East rerouting pressure has pushed demand onto direct services. Singapore Airlines has the aircraft, the schedule, and the product to absorb it.
Book at singaporeair.com today. If you are planning a KrisFlyer redemption ex-Singapore for October onwards — book before tomorrow to avoid the SAF levy.
