Carnival Firenze sailings cancelled 2026 β 11 of them, between October 12 and November 16, departing Long Beach, California. If you were booked on any of those dates, the March 25 rebook deadline has now passed. If you did not call Carnival or your travel agent before March 25, your reservation has been automatically cancelled and a full refund is being processed β which can take up to three weeks to appear on your original payment method. If you did rebook by March 25, you kept your original cruise rate and received a $50 onboard credit per person, up to $100 per stateroom. And if you are not sure which category you fall into β this guide tells you exactly how to check, what you are owed, and what comes next for the Carnival Firenze.

Carnival gave affected passengers two choices when the cancellations were announced:
Option 1 β Rebook by March 25: Passengers who called Carnival or worked with their travel agent before March 25 could transfer to a comparable sailing at their original cruise rate β fully protected. On top of that, Carnival added $50 onboard credit per person, up to $100 per stateroom, as a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience.
Option 2 β Do nothing (or actively request a refund): Carnival confirmed: “No action is required in this case” β refunds will be issued after March 25, 2026, and can take up to three weeks to be processed by banks. If you did nothing, your reservation was automatically cancelled and your full refund is now in the processing queue.
βοΈ Log into your Carnival account at carnival.com/manage-my-cruise βοΈ If your October 12βNovember 16 Firenze booking still shows “Active” β call Carnival at 1-800-764-7419 immediately βοΈ If your booking shows “Cancelled” β your refund is processing β allow up to 3 weeks from March 25 βοΈ If you booked through a travel agent: your agent received the same notification and should have contacted you β call them today if you have not heard
No. The $50 onboard credit per person, up to $100 per stateroom, was available exclusively to passengers who rebooked a comparable sailing in similar accommodations by March 25, 2026. That deadline has passed. Passengers who are now receiving automatic refunds are not entitled to the OBC β the credit was the incentive for proactive rebooking, not a universal offer.
If you believe you attempted to rebook before March 25 but did not complete the process due to a hold time or technical issue, call Carnival’s customer service team and explain the circumstances. Carnival may exercise discretion β but this is not guaranteed.
Every Carnival Firenze departure from Long Beach between October 12 and November 16, 2026 has been cancelled. As of March 17, when trying to book a cruise on the Firenze, cruises are available out of Long Beach until October 12, then not again until November 20.
Cancelled sailing types:
βοΈ 3-night Baja getaway: Long Beach β Ensenada, Mexico β Long Beach β Friday or Monday departures βοΈ 4-night Baja + California: Long Beach β Catalina Island, California β Ensenada, Mexico β Long Beach β combines two ports in a long-weekend format
These short sailings were marketed as Southern California escape cruises β accessible from Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and the broader Southwest US market without requiring a flight. Their cancellation specifically affects the West Coast short-cruise market that has very few alternatives at this distance and price point.
The booking gap: Between October 12 and November 19, the Firenze has no Long Beach sailings. From November 20 onwards, a revised Firenze schedule resumes from Long Beach. Carnival has not published what the October 12βNovember 19 Firenze will be doing during this gap β the redeployment preparation is the most likely explanation.
Carnival’s official statement cites “changes to itinerary plans” β the standard corporate language used for any schedule modification. Industry reports suggest that the Carnival Firenze will be repositioned from the West Coast to the East Coast in early 2027, likely causing the fall cancellations.
After three years sailing from California, the ship is scheduled to reposition to the East Coast in early 2027 for cruises out of Miami and New York City. Starting in early 2027, the ship will move from its current homeport in Long Beach to Miami, Florida, with a permanent relocation to New York City by the summer of 2027.
The fall 2026 cancellation gap is the preparation window. Moving a 4,126-passenger ship from the West Coast to the East Coast is not a simple overnight repositioning β it involves drydock maintenance, crew reassignments, new provisioning contracts, revised port agreements, and a repositioning cruise that the ship must sail to reach Miami. The October 12βNovember 19 gap lines up precisely with the timing needed to begin that transition.
What this means for West Coast cruisers: The Carnival Firenze is leaving California. After the remaining 2026 sailings, West Coast passengers will no longer have access to the Italian-themed product from Long Beach. Carnival Panorama and Carnival Radiance will continue operating Baja Mexico itineraries from Long Beach and San Diego, but neither ship carries the Firenze’s distinctive Italian-style branding.
For passengers who booked specifically because of the Firenze’s reputation, here is what made this ship distinctive on the West Coast:
Part of Carnival’s Carnival Fun Italian Style concept, the Firenze was originally built for Costa Cruises before being transferred to Carnival in early 2024. It debuted at Long Beach in April 2024 β giving it barely two and a half years on the West Coast before its East Coast redeployment.
The Italian touches that made it different: βοΈ Terrazza staterooms β wraparound terrace design inspired by Italian architecture βοΈ Amari cocktail bar β Italian aperitivo concept βοΈ Tuscan Lounge β premium dining venue with Italian-inspired menu βοΈ Italian-language signage β bilingual throughout the ship βοΈ Piazza-style atrium β central gathering space inspired by Italian town squares
Combined with familiar Carnival staples β Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, Serenity adult-only retreat, and WaterWorks aquapark β the Firenze offered a hybrid product that appealed to passengers who wanted Carnival’s price point with a more distinctive design experience.
From Miami and New York in 2027, the Firenze will serve a new audience β primarily East Coast US passengers and Caribbean cruise market. West Coast passengers who specifically want this product will need to fly East or book a repositioning cruise.
Carnival also notified booked guests this week of changes affecting Carnival Panorama’s 2026 schedule. Several 2026 voyages on the Carnival Panorama will have a revised schedule. Carnival has not publicly detailed which specific Panorama sailings are affected β affected passengers are being notified directly by Carnival and their travel agents.
Carnival Panorama operates Mexican Riviera itineraries from Long Beach, including routes to MazatlΓ‘n, Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, and Puerto Vallarta. If you are booked on Carnival Panorama for any 2026 sailing and have not received a notification, check your booking at carnival.com/manage-my-cruise and ensure your email address is current.
Panorama alternative: Carnival Panorama remains the primary Baja/Mexican Riviera ship at Long Beach for the routes that Firenze was operating. If you are rebooking from the Firenze, Panorama is the closest like-for-like alternative from the same home port on the same style of itinerary.
Carnival confirmed: “No action is required in this case” β refunds will be issued after March 25, 2026, and can take up to three weeks to be processed by banks. Your refund covers:
βοΈ Full cruise fare β 100% of what you paid βοΈ Pre-purchased items that can be returned β beverage packages, Wi-Fi packages, shore excursions booked through Carnival, spa pre-bookings βοΈ Refunded to your original form of payment β credit card, debit card, or however you originally paid
What the Carnival refund does NOT cover: βοΈ Flights booked independently β even if you booked them specifically for this cruise βοΈ Hotels at Long Beach or in port cities β booked outside Carnival βοΈ Independent shore excursions β booked directly with tour operators rather than through Carnival βοΈ Non-refundable travel insurance premiums β if you purchased a separate policy
If you purchased travel insurance before this cancellation was announced, your policy may cover:
βοΈ Non-refundable flight cancellation costs β if your airline charges a change fee βοΈ Non-refundable hotel nights β if booked in advance for pre/post cruise stays βοΈ Independent tour operator cancellation fees βοΈ Trip cancellation for consequential losses not covered by Carnival
The known event rule: Any travel insurance purchased after Carnival notified booked guests of the cancellation (the announcement came approximately mid-March 2026) may not cover this cancellation under the known event exclusion. Policies purchased before the announcement should be fully covered β file within 30 days of the cancellation event.
Many premium travel credit cards include trip cancellation and interruption coverage when you purchase your cruise with the card. Check:
βοΈ Chase Sapphire Reserve: Trip cancellation up to $10,000 per person βοΈ Amex Platinum: Trip cancellation and interruption up to $10,000 βοΈ Capital One Venture X: Trip cancellation coverage included βοΈ Call the number on the back of your card β ask specifically about cruise cancellation by the cruise line
Step 1 β Confirm your refund status Log into carnival.com/manage-my-cruise. Look for your October 12βNovember 16 Firenze booking. If it shows “Cancelled” β your refund is processing. If it shows anything else β call 1-800-764-7419 immediately.
Step 2 β Allow up to 3 weeks Your refund was triggered after March 25. Processing takes up to three weeks. The earliest you should expect to see it: approximately April 15, 2026. Do not initiate a credit card dispute before April 15 β disputes filed before the processing window closes can complicate and delay your refund.
Step 3 β Claim your independent costs Pull together every receipt for flights, hotels, and independent tours you booked for this cruise. Call your travel insurance provider β or your credit card’s travel benefit line β and initiate a claim for non-refundable costs within 30 days of the cancellation.
Step 4 β Explore alternatives If you still want to cruise from Long Beach in fall 2026: βοΈ Carnival Panorama β Baja Mexico itineraries (MazatlΓ‘n, Cabo, La Paz, Puerto Vallarta) from Long Beach β closest like-for-like alternative βοΈ Carnival Radiance β also operates from Long Beach β shorter Baja getaways βοΈ Norwegian Cruise Line β also departs Long Beach/Los Angeles for Mexico βοΈ Princess Cruises β California Coastal and Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles βοΈ Royal Caribbean β seasonal West Coast departures
Step 5 β Watch for Panorama updates If you are also booked on Carnival Panorama for 2026, check your email and your carnival.com account β the Panorama schedule revision may affect your sailing. Carnival is notifying passengers directly but email deliverability varies.
Carnival Firenze sailings cancelled 2026 β 11 of them, October 12 through November 16, from Long Beach. The March 25 rebook-for-credit deadline has passed. If you did nothing, your refund is processing automatically and will take up to three weeks to reach your account. If you rebooked before March 25, your original rate is protected and your $50-per-person onboard credit is confirmed.
The bigger picture: the Carnival Firenze is leaving California. After a brief run that began in April 2024, the Italian-themed ship heads to Miami in early 2027 and permanently relocates to New York City by summer 2027. West Coast passengers who specifically chose the Firenze for its Italian-style product will need to find alternatives β the closest option from Long Beach is Carnival Panorama for the same Baja Mexico routes.
Check your booking status at carnival.com/manage-my-cruise today. If your refund has not arrived by April 15, call Carnival at 1-800-764-7419. And if you had flights or hotels booked for these sailings β start your insurance claim this week before the 30-day window closes.
