Royal Caribbean International has cancelled every Freedom of the Seas sailing scheduled between May and September 2027. The cancellations cover a wide range of itineraries. Freedom of the Seas will be replacing Liberty of the Seas at Southampton, effectively upsizing the capacity Royal Caribbean is offering to British and European travelers for Summer 2027. The move reflects a broader industry trend of cruise lines investing more heavily in European operations.
A Royal Caribbean spokesperson confirmed: “Freedom of the Seas will sail from Southampton for the 2027 summer season, reflecting the continued strength of the UK and Ireland market.”
For UK and European passengers, this is good news — a larger, newer ship is coming to Southampton. For US passengers who had booked Caribbean sailings out of Miami, it is a cancelled vacation with a tight deadline to respond.
Royal Caribbean has given affected passengers four choices. You must select one by end of day today.
If you take no action today, Royal Caribbean will automatically move your booking to a 4-night Perfect Day at CocoCay and Bahamas cruise on Wonder of the Seas, departing Miami.

Royal Caribbean is offering two additional alternative sailings at prorated rates:
Both are offered at prorated pricing — your original stateroom category fare is protected, and if the new fare is lower than what you paid, you receive a refund of the difference.
Best for: Passengers who want to stay in the Caribbean on a Royal Caribbean ship but want a different length or itinerary than the Wonder of the Seas default.
Royal Caribbean is waiving the standard non-refundable deposit change fee, allowing affected passengers to rebook any Royal Caribbean sailing worldwide — different ship, different destination, different date — without penalty.
This is the most flexible option. If you have been considering a Mediterranean sailing, an Alaska cruise, or any Royal Caribbean itinerary outside the Caribbean, this waiver gives you the opportunity to move your booking there without losing your deposit.
Key detail: Fare differences between your original booking and a more expensive replacement sailing will still apply. Royal Caribbean protects your original stateroom category price — it does not cap the overall cost of an upgrade.

If you booked with a full-service carrier (British Airways, Qantas, United, Delta, American), request a refund citing the cruise cancellation. Many carriers will honour a fee-free change or refund under these circumstances.
Those who do not contact Royal Caribbean by April 1, 2026 will automatically be moved to the first sailing — the 4-night Wonder of the Seas voyage from Miami.
Once auto-rebooked, changing to a different option will be subject to standard Royal Caribbean change fees and policies. The special waiver on non-refundable deposit change fees applies only to passengers who act within the original deadline window.
