Amarnath Yatra is one of the religious journeys, which is regarded of great significance in Hindu religion. The Amarnath caves has great religious significance. It is important to know for the pilgrims and visitors that for the Amarnath yatra medical certificate is a must. As the Amarnath cave is situated of high altitudes, the health of the Yatris is very important. It is advisable to get a health check up by the authorized physician. Yatris must take their various essential documents and it has to be submiited to the respective authority to ensure a convinient yatra. All the pilgrims must carry some eatables with a long shelf life such as biscuits, candies, chocolates, honey or tinned food. This will help them in keeping the energy level high. Accommodation & food is available for free at various langars at Baltal as well as, on the way to Baltal ( near Jawahar Tunnel). If you are taking a pony, take your ponywalla's ID card because if you fail to do so, he will take some other devotee with him who will offer him a better price. Keep the card with you and only return once you are at the top. All the Pilgrims have to purchase pre-activated sim cards at the base camps of Baltal and Nunwan as the pre-paid sim cards from other states will not work in Jammu and Kashmir and yatra area. Women pilgrims should come in salwar kameez, pant-shirt or a track suit. Sarees are not allowed in the Amarnath Yatra. Children below 13 years of age, adults above 75 years of age and women who are pregnant are not allowed to register for this yatra. If you want to opt for helicopter then you will need to book it as soon as it opened due to huge demand of the service. There are two routes for Amarnath yatra Pahalgam to Amarnath Cave - This is the traditional route which Pahalgam and goes via Chandanwari,Sheshnag and Panchtani. Chandanwari is the check point, here the yatris have to present the permit to go further for the religious journey. Baltal to Amarnath Cave - This route goes via Domel and Barari Dome is the check point, where the yatris have to present the permit to go further for the religious journey. Visitors can opt for any route according to their preference. Pilgrims should not trek alone. They should try to move with groups. Pilgrims have to follow certain rules & regulations as set by the organizing committee.
