Ten days from today, London Luton Airport gets six new direct routes in one go — and for UK holidaymakers hunting affordable summer flights, this is the most significant single expansion announcement at Luton in years.
Wizz Air has successfully acquired slots from TUI Airways at London Luton Airport, and will base an additional Airbus A321neo aircraft at Luton, bringing the total aircraft based at the airport to 15. Six new routes from London Luton Airport to summer holiday hotspots will begin from June 12, 2026 — destinations include Alicante, Lyon, Corfu, Faro, Turin, and the brand new UK–Armenia connection to Yerevan.
With these six new destinations, Wizz Air’s total number of routes from London Luton will rise to 66, cementing its position as the largest operator at the airport.

The trigger for this expansion is TUI Airways’ decision to consolidate its UK operations. TUI said it was moving to Gatwick “to strengthen core operations,” freeing up valuable takeoff and landing slots at Luton.
Slots at London’s airports are among the most commercially valuable assets in aviation. At congested airports like Luton — where demand for departures consistently exceeds available runway capacity in summer — a slot package from a major carrier like TUI represents a rare opportunity. Wizz Air moved quickly to acquire them.

The result for UK travellers is immediate and concrete: six destinations that were either unserved from Luton or served at lower frequency are now available on Wizz Air’s ultra-low-cost model — starting in ten days.

What Yerevan offers UK visitors: Armenia is one of the world’s oldest Christian civilisations — the country adopted Christianity as its state religion in 301 AD. Yerevan sits beneath the shadow of Mount Ararat (visible on clear days from the city, though located across the border in Turkey).
