France Strike Today (Live): Eurostar Cancels Three Trains, TGV Slightly Disrupted, RER D Worst Hit in Paris — Metro Running Normally, CDG and Orly Expected to Operate, and the March Is Now République to Nation

The day of strikes and demonstrations France has been bracing for is under way: Eurostar has cancelled three services, TGV traffic is slightly disrupted, regional and Paris-area trains are heavily disrupted, but the Paris metro is running normally and flights at Charles de Gaulle and Orly are expected to run as scheduled.

Five union confederations called a national day of strikes and demonstrations over wages, public services and the 2027 budget, and all four representative SNCF rail unions joined. SNCF says TGV services will be “slightly disrupted” and Intercités, TER and Île-de-France trains “disrupted.” The worst-hit line in Paris is the RER D.

Eurostar has cancelled trains 9004, 9015 and 9052 because of strike action on its network and warns of possible knock-on effects on French routes. This article is updated through the day. Here is where things stand.

Published and updated: Thursday, November 5, 2026
Eurostar: Trains 9004, 9015 and 9052 cancelled today because of strike action; knock-on effects possible on other French routes
TGV: “Slightly disrupted”; reports based on SNCF’s plan suggest roughly one TGV in ten cancelled
Intercités, TER, Île-de-France trains and RER: “Disrupted”; RER D worst hit
Paris metro, bus and tram (RATP): Normal service planned
Flights: The DGAC said on November 4 that it had not asked airlines to reduce flights; Paris Charles de Gaulle and Orly are expected to run as scheduled; aviation unions have joined the strike call, so check with your airline
Refunds: Customers on TGV and Intercités trains that are cancelled will be contacted and can exchange or refund tickets free of charge
Paris march: 14:00–19:00 from Place de la République to Place de la Nation along Boulevard Voltaire; the unions’ proposed Bastille–Concorde route was banned and a court upheld the ban
Cause: A pay and budget dispute; unions want inflation catch-up after a 2026 pay deal of 0.5%, which was based on an inflation estimate of 1.3%
Tomorrow: Commercial launch of the TGV M, Paris–Marseille, on Friday, November 6

✈️ Flights and Getting to Paris Airports

The DGAC, France’s civil aviation authority, said on Wednesday that it had not asked airlines to cut flights, so CDG and Orly are expected to operate normally. Aviation unions, including ground handling and security staff groups, also joined the call to strike, so individual airlines or services could still be affected. Check your flight in your airline’s app.

Airport Rail Link Today Alternatives to Check
Charles de Gaulle (CDG) RER B disrupted: about 1 in 2 trains north of Gare du Nord Roissybus, taxi or ride-hailing; allow extra time
Orly (ORY) RER C disrupted: about 1 in 2 trains Metro line 14 serves Orly and RATP expects normal metro service; verify before travelling
Evening travel to CDG RER B is suspended on weekday evenings after 22:45 between Châtelet–Les Halles and the CDG and Mitry-Claye branches (a standing works schedule, separate from the strike) Plan a taxi or bus for late arrivals

🏛️ The March in Paris

The inter-union demonstration is set for 14:00 to 19:00 between Place de la République and Place de la Nation along Boulevard Voltaire. The Paris police prefecture banned the unions’ preferred Bastille–Concorde route on Wednesday, and the Paris administrative court rejected the unions’ appeal that evening. Expect road closures, heavy police presence and crowded streets in the 3rd, 10th, 11th and 12th arrondissements, and allow extra time for taxis and buses in the east of the city. Disruption in Paris continues through the weekend: a Yellow Vests protest is planned for Saturday and metro line 6 is closed on Sunday, according to Sortiraparis.

✅ What to Do Right Now

  • Check your train on SNCF Connect or Eurostar’s travel-updates page before leaving — the cancelled Eurostar trains are 9004, 9015 and 9052
  • Take the metro where you can, since RATP expects normal service, and avoid RER D if possible
  • Allow extra time to reach CDG and Orly, and consider a taxi or Roissybus if RER B or C is part of your journey
  • Confirm your flight with the airline even though the DGAC has not asked for cuts
  • Avoid east Paris between 14:00 and 19:00 if you can, since the march will affect streets and transport
  • Consider travelling Friday instead if your plans are flexible, but check for knock-on delays
  • Keep receipts and screenshots of cancellations in case you claim

📅 What Happens Next

The unions have not said whether they will call further action, and the pay dispute is unresolved. Friday’s launch of the TGV M on Paris–Marseille could see residual disruption. We’ll update this article through the day.
