The tournament starts today. If you are one of the millions of travellers already booked on a cruise this summer — from a Mediterranean sailing to an Alaskan voyage, a Caribbean week to a Norwegian fjord cruise — the question every football fan is asking right now is simple: will I miss the World Cup?
The answer, for most major cruise lines, is no.
Royal Caribbean, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Cunard, P&O Cruises, Seabourn, Virgin Voyages and Ambassador Cruise Line have all made specific arrangements to broadcast FIFA World Cup 2026 matches across their fleets for the duration of the tournament. Some have pool deck watch parties. Others are showing matches on cabin TVs via the Sport 24 Special Event Channel. Several have built dedicated fan zones, themed drinks menus, jersey nights and interactive activities around the biggest sporting event on earth.
This is the complete guide to which cruise line is doing what — ship by ship, venue by venue — so you can plan your match-watching schedule before you even step aboard.

Royal Caribbean is, without question, the cruise line that has gone furthest with its World Cup commitment — and not just onboard.
The line is the Official Miami World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter, with immersive brand activations planned throughout the tournament at the FIFA Fan Festival Miami at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami. Given that Royal Caribbean is headquartered in Miami and a primary sponsor of Inter Miami CF, the partnership makes complete sense.
Onboard coverage — what passengers get:
From June 11 through July 19, 2026, guests sailing on any Royal Caribbean ship will be able to watch every match live through the Sport 24 Special Event Channel. According to Royal Caribbean, every single ship in the fleet carries the broadcasts in real time — no exceptions, no regional limitations, no matter where in the world the ship is sailing.
Where you can watch on Royal Caribbean ships:
Special World Cup activities: Royal Caribbean has confirmed themed activities on board during tournament sailings — the specific schedule will vary by ship and sailing date, but the line has signalled this goes beyond just showing the matches.
Royal Caribbean fleet note: The line currently operates 26 ships globally, ranging from the largest cruise ships ever built (Icon of the Seas, Wonder of the Seas) down to smaller vessels. All 26 are confirmed for the World Cup broadcast.
MSC Cruises has made one of the broadest commitments in the industry: live broadcasts of all 104 World Cup matches across its entire global fleet — every ship, every sailing, for the full duration of the tournament.
MSC World Europa and MSC World America — the line’s two largest and most technologically advanced vessels — are particularly equipped for this. MSC World Europa’s Sky Lounge was turned into a full fan zone during the 2022 Qatar World Cup; a similar or enhanced setup is expected for 2026.
Where you can watch on MSC ships:
Themed activities: MSC has confirmed a programme of tournament-themed activities for all ages, including interactive games, quizzes, and family-friendly events alongside the match schedule — making this a good option for families travelling with children who may not follow every game but will engage with the tournament atmosphere.
MSC fleet note: MSC currently operates 23 ships globally, with the largest concentration on Mediterranean sailings this summer. Mediterranean itineraries put the ship in European ports during the day — meaning many afternoon match kick-offs (European time) will coincide with sea days or evening sailing.
Norwegian Cruise Line is broadcasting live coverage of the full tournament across its fleet — but it has added one feature that no other cruise line has confirmed: the ability to record any match and replay it within a 24-hour window.
This matters enormously for cruise passengers. A match kicking off at 03:00 ship time during a Caribbean sailing, or a game playing while passengers are ashore on an excursion, would normally mean missing the action entirely. NCL’s 24-hour DVR function means you can watch the game on your own schedule — as long as you do so within 24 hours of the original broadcast.
Where you can watch on NCL ships:
NCL “Soccer at Sea” packages: Norwegian has been marketing 2026 World Cup sailings specifically to football fans. A dedicated “Soccer at Sea” package has been confirmed for Bahamas sailings, which includes match clinics alongside the screenings — a particularly unusual offering for passengers who want more than passive watching.
Norwegian Freestyle advantage: NCL’s signature freestyle cruising concept means no fixed dinner times or structured schedules — passengers can plan their days around match kick-offs rather than around ship timetables. This is a genuine practical advantage for serious football fans.
NCL fleet note: Norwegian operates 19 ships globally, with a strong Caribbean and Bermuda presence in summer 2026.
Celebrity Cruises has confirmed World Cup match broadcasts across its fleet during the tournament. The line, which sits in Royal Caribbean Group’s portfolio alongside Royal Caribbean International, is targeting its typical demographic of premium travellers — with the World Cup treated as a premium event rather than a casual sports showing.
Where you can watch on Celebrity ships:
Celebrity has not announced the same level of pool-deck spectacle as Royal Caribbean or MSC, which is consistent with the line’s generally quieter, premium-focused onboard atmosphere. Passengers on Celebrity who want immersive watch parties may find the experience more subdued — but every match is accessible, particularly from cabin TVs.
Celebrity fleet note: Celebrity operates 16 ships, currently deploying heavily in the Mediterranean and Alaska for summer 2026.
Princess Cruises was among the first lines to announce its World Cup plans, confirming the deal in December 2025. The marketing positioning — “Pitch-Perfect Vacations” — signals that the line is treating this as a core summer selling point.
Where you can watch on Princess ships:
Princess fleet note: Princess operates 17 ships, with strong Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Japan deployments this summer. The 17-ship fleet means this is one of the broadest confirmed commitments in the industry.
Holland America Line has secured rights through the same IMG deal as Princess, offering the full 104-match Sport 24 broadcast across its fleet — but with a food-focused twist that stands out.
Where you can watch on Holland America ships:
The food angle: Holland America has been developing soccer-themed menus to accompany matches — including nation-specific dishes tied to that day’s fixture. The examples circulating include tacos for Mexico games and poutine for Canada matches. This is one of the more creative approaches to integrating the tournament into the overall cruise experience rather than simply switching on a broadcast channel.
HAL fleet note: Holland America operates 11 ships, currently deployed in Alaska, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and transatlantic routes this summer.
Cunard and P&O Cruises — both part of Carnival Corporation — have made specific arrangements that reflect the predominantly British audience travelling on both lines. While all matches are available on stateroom TVs via Sport 24 Special Event Channels, the most important distinction is in how they handle key fixtures.
Cunard — what passengers get:
P&O Cruises — what passengers get:
Combined fleet note: P&O Cruises operates 7 ships, Cunard operates 4. Both are heavily UK-market focused, which means the England matches — particularly in the group stage — will be among the highest-demand events of the summer.
Virgin Voyages has taken a different approach to the other lines — building the World Cup viewing around its “immersive experience” brand positioning rather than simply licensing a broadcast channel.
Where you can watch on Virgin ships:
The food and drinks angle: Virgin is working on themed drinks and food to accompany matches — consistent with the line’s generally elevated approach to onboard food and beverage programming. No specifics confirmed yet but the line has signalled this will be more creative than a standard drinks package.
Virgin note: Virgin does not offer stateroom TV access for all matches in the same way as Sport 24 lines — the experience is designed around the communal watch zones rather than in-cabin access. Passengers who want to watch specific games privately in their cabins should check Virgin’s specific onboard technology setup before sailing.
Virgin fleet note: 5 ships operating in the Caribbean and Mediterranean.
Seabourn:
Guests on Seabourn ships will have access to all 104 matches in their suites via Sport 24 Special Event Channels. Select public venues onboard will also show matches, and certain lounges may host informal gatherings for major fixtures depending on the shipboard schedule and itinerary. Given Seabourn’s ultra-luxury positioning, the approach is appropriately low-key — the matches are available, but the line is not building a commercial watch-party operation around them.
Ambassador Cruise Line (UK-market):
Ambassador has secured broadcast rights for all 104 matches on Sport 24 Special Event Channels aboard its two ships — Ambience and Ambition. Venue details are confirmed on a cruise-by-cruise basis through the daily programme and onboard digital screens. A programme of match-related events and themed activities will run alongside the broadcasts. Ambassador operates exclusively from UK ports, making it a relevant option specifically for UK-based fans already booked on summer departures.
Two notable lines have confirmed limited or no World Cup coverage:
Regent Seven Seas (RSSC): RSSC will not be showing any World Cup games onboard. Passengers on Regent sailings during the tournament who want to follow the competition should plan for this. Given Regent’s all-inclusive pricing model, this is a notable omission for football fans — though Regent’s typical demographic may be less affected than other lines.
Windstar: Few if any World Cup matches will be available on Windstar’s ships. The line operates small sailing ships and motor yachts with limited broadcast infrastructure — this is a technical constraint as much as a commercial decision.
If your line isn’t on this list: Check directly with your cruise line before sailing. The situation with smaller lines and expedition cruise operators varies significantly.
1. Know your ship’s time zone versus kick-off times. Match kick-offs in the US, Canada and Mexico will span a wide range of time zones. A 20:00 ET kick-off is midnight in the Mediterranean and 09:00 the next morning in Australia. Build your excursion and dinner plans around the matches you most want to watch live — or use NCL’s 24-hour replay function if you’re on Norwegian.
2. Pack your jersey. Multiple lines — Princess, P&O, Cunard, Virgin Voyages — have specifically mentioned watch parties where guests are invited to wear their team colours. It enhances the communal atmosphere and costs you nothing.
3. Arrive early for big matches. Pool deck screenings and sports bar spaces fill up quickly for major fixtures. England group games, any USA match, and all knockout rounds will draw large crowds. For a final, consider arriving 45 minutes early.
4. The ship’s app is your friend. Most major cruise lines have an onboard app that will show the daily programme including when and where matches are being shown. Check it the evening before to plan your match day.
5. Sea days are the best match days. If you have the option to book a sea day that coincides with a critical match, the combination of full ship attendance and a pool-deck screening is an unusually good live sport experience. Check your itinerary against the tournament schedule before you sail.
6. The group stage runs June 11–July 2. The knockout rounds begin July 3. The final is July 19. The group stage will see three simultaneous matches per day on some dates — plan for which venues show which games, as different screens may show different simultaneous fixtures.
