Toronto Pearson’s UP Express Is Closed This Weekend (Oct 31–Nov 1): How to Reach the Airport, What Replaces It and When It Closes Again

TRENDING: THERE ARE NO UP EXPRESS TRAINS BETWEEN UNION STATION AND TORONTO PEARSON ON SATURDAY OCT 31 OR SUNDAY NOV 1 BECAUSE OF PLANNED CONSTRUCTION. GO SHUTTLE BUSES REPLACE THE TRAINS. BARRIE AND KITCHENER GO LINES ARE ALSO HIT, AND TTC LINE 2 HAS A CLOSURE. FOUR MORE FULL-WEEKEND UP EXPRESS CLOSURES ARE LISTED FOR NOV 14–15, DEC 12–13 AND DEC 19–20, PLUS MORE IN 2027.

Published: October 31, 2026

If you are flying in or out of Toronto Pearson this Halloween weekend, don’t plan on the airport train. Here is what is confirmed and what to do.

What Is Closed

Item Detail
Service UP Express: no trains Sat Oct 31 or Sun Nov 1, 2026
Last train The final Friday train leaves Union Station at 11pm on Oct 30 (Deep Arrival, citing the notice)
Reason Planned construction (Metrolinx notice)
Replacement GO shuttle buses between Union Station Bus Terminal and Pearson Terminal 1, both directions
Stops skipped The shuttle does not stop at Bloor, Weston or Mount Dennis

BlogTO’s report does not mention the shuttle, and tells riders to “prepare to shell out for a cab”. The shuttle details come from the Metrolinx notice as reported by Deep Arrival. Check upexpress.com for the current shuttle times and frequency before you leave.

Your Options to Reach Pearson

Option What we know Watch for
GO shuttle bus (Union to Terminal 1) Replaces UP Express directly Road traffic can change the travel time. Allow extra time. Fares were not stated in the sources, so check
Taxi or rideshare BlogTO’s suggested fallback Weekend and Halloween night demand can raise prices. Agree a fare or check the app estimate
TTC plus bus Line 1 works for most of the Barrie corridor (see below) TTC Line 2 has a closure (below). Check TTC for airport bus routes
Drive and park Possible, but check parking availability Book parking in advance

Terminal 3: the shuttle serves Terminal 1. If you are flying from Terminal 3, add time for the connection after you reach Terminal 1 (Deep Arrival).

If you live near Bloor, Weston or Mount Dennis: the shuttle does not stop there, so use local transit to reach Union Station or the airport.

Other Transit Closures This Weekend

Line What is happening
GO Barrie line No trains between Downsview Park and Union Station, Oct 31–Nov 1. Most affected trains are replaced by shuttle buses. Trains run normally between Allandale Waterfront / Aurora and Downsview. TTC Line 1 is the suggested alternative
GO Kitchener line Replacement buses run between Stratford or Kitchener GO and the Hwy 407 Bus Terminal. The 11:34pm train from Union to Mount Pleasant is cancelled, replaced by a GO bus serving all stops from Union to Bramalea. Mount Pleasant to Mount Dennis runs as usual
GO Stouffville line No full closure. Weekend trains are mostly replaced by buses that skip Milliken, Agincourt and Kennedy. Southbound trains leaving Old Elm may run up to 27 minutes late
TTC Line 2 No subway service between St. George and Broadview from 10pm Friday Oct 30, with shuttle buses (NOW Toronto). The sources do not give the end time or the reason

Note that clocks go back an hour on Sunday Nov 1 at 2am, so check any early Sunday departure times on your ticket and in your airline app.

When the UP Express Closes Again

The construction notice lists more full-weekend closures (Deep Arrival, citing UP Express):

Weekend Dates
Next Nov 14–15
Dec 12–13
Dec 19–20
Later Unspecified additional weekends in 2027

Dec 19–20 is the weekend before Christmas. Each closure is confirmed separately, so check the notice before you fly. If you are booking flights for those weekends, plan another way to the airport.

If You Are Flying This Weekend: Checklist

✓ Do not rely on UP Express on Oct 31 or Nov 1 ✓ Check upexpress.com and GO Transit for shuttle times before you leave ✓ Allow extra time for the shuttle, especially for international flights ✓ Know your terminal. Terminal 3 passengers need extra time after the shuttle to Terminal 1 ✓ Check TTC Line 2 and GO Barrie, Kitchener and Stouffville closures if you are starting there ✓ Pre-book a taxi or rideshare if you have an early flight ✓ Remember clocks go back on Sunday morning ✓ Keep your flight status open in your airline’s app

Your Rights (Brief)

  • Cancelled or delayed flights: Canada’s Air Passenger Protection Regulations apply on flights to or from Canada, with your rights depending on the cause and the length of delay.
  • Insurance: check whether your travel insurance covers transport disruption on the way to the airport.
